| RULES FOR THE 2004 AAA LOBSTER FEST |
USA Hockey Rules will be in effect unless noted otherwise below.
(1) All teams will consist only of players born in 1991, 1992, 1993, 1994, 1995, 1996 & 1997 (Note: Younger players, but not older players may compete in each respective division)
(2) Regulation 5 on 5 hockey. Coaches must submit a copy of their game roster to the tournament Director at least 30 minutes prior to the first tournament game.
(3) Each team will play at least 4 games - guaranteed. Each game will consist of 3 (12 minute) stop time periods. A two-minute warm up will be given prior to the start of each game. Please note that 1 hour is allotted for each game. If time needs to be made up and the goal differential is 4 goals or greater in the third period, the game clock will run continuously until the end of the game or until the differential becomes less than 4 goals.
(4) Penalties will be called as normal and times will be as usual. (1 1/2 minutes for minor penalties, 3 minutes for double minor penalties & 5 minutes for major penalties).
(5) Off sides tag up rule will be in effect.
(6) Checking all divisions.
(7) NO TIES- see tie breakers rules below for ties in regular tournaments games as well as playoff and championship games.
(8) Injuries to players:
In case of an injury, the injured player must go directly to his respective bench and be
replaced. He may resume his regular position in his next shift.
The referee-in-chief will have final say on all calls made, as well as stopping the clock in the event of an injury.
(9) The tournament directors shall act as the final arbitrator in determining a winner/champion in disputed or unresolved games.
(10) Method for determining tournament and championship games:
a. During tournament play, teams will be awarded 2 points for a win, 1 point for a tie, 1
point for an overtime win and 0 points for a loss. Points will decide the first and second
place teams. Those two teams will play in the AAA championship game.The next two seeds
will play in a AA Championship game. If more than one
(bracket) in a division , top two teams in each bracket will play in crossover games (#1 seed vs #2 seed
in other div) with the two winning teams playing for the championship.
Time outs will be allowed in championship games only.
No ties…A 2 minute sudden death Overtime of 5 on 5 will be played, if still tied, 3 on 3
for 1 minute, then 2 on 2 for 1 minute, then a shootout utilizing 3 different skaters per
team with the most goals determining the winner. If still tied 1 player shootout until
someone wins.
c. The team with the most points in the tournament will gain the higher position.
d. If two or more teams are tied: Teams advancing to playoff round will be determined by:
1. Head to head competition.
2. Least total amount of goals scored against a team will determine the higher seed.
3. If a tie still exists, the team with the least number of penalties, in minutes,
(excluding misconduct, game misconduct and gross misconduct) throughout the
round robin series gains the highest seed.
4. If a tie still exists, there will be a coin flip.
SPORTSMANSHIP: Fighting, abusive behavior, or any unsportsmanlike conduct by
players, team officials, or spectators will not be tolerated, whether on or off the ice and
will be considered grounds for removal from the arena. The USA HOCKEY ZERO
TOLERANCE POLICY will be in effect. The referees will have the option of ending any
game should they feel the players or game officials are endangered. In such a case, the
tournament directors and/or on-ice officials will determine the outcome of the game.
SHOULD ANY PLAYER OR PLAYERS ON ANY TEAM WILLFULLY DAMAGE
ANY PROPERTY OF THE ICE ARENA WHERE TOURNAMENT GAMES ARE
PLAYED, ALL COSTS FOR REPAIRS OR REPLACEMENTS WILL BE THE SOLE
RESPONSIBILITY OF THE TEAM CONCERNED. THE ICE ARENA AND/OR
BETTER HOCKEY WILL NOT BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY PERSONAL
POSSESSIONS LEFT IN THE LOCKER ROOMS.
